Aly is a current MPA 1st-year student at SIPA concentrating in Energy and Environment. Prior to SIPA, he lived in West and Central Africa (Cameroon, Benin, and Liberia) for four years working in digital health. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon and most recently worked as a Project Manager for an NGO working on disease surveillance strengthening and polio eradication. He graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Public Health and International Affairs. He is very excited to be a part of this year's Symposium and is looking forward to meeting all of the attendees, panelists, and keynote speakers!
Scott is a second year MPA student in the Energy & Environment concentration at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). Prior to SIPA, he worked as a chemist and brewer for craft breweries in San Diego and Nepal. At SIPA, Scott has researched how solar power can mitigate natural disasters in the Dominican Republic, consulted to the American Petroleum Institute on pipeline risk, and interned at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry from the University of San Diego and the University of California, Berkeley, respectively. Scott intends to pursue a career in clean energy and carbon reduction upon graduation.
Kathy Yicun Tang
Kathy is a second-year Master of Public Administration student at Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), with a focus on energy and finance. Grown up in a household of engineers, she began to think about the link between energy and society at an early age. During her study at Peking University of China, she explored the various roles of government, corporation, academia, and non-profit in the energy system. Columbia SIPA enables her to further learn about the capital options and build a diverse network. Kathy spent the summer with J.P. Morgan in Shanghai.

Originally from Mexico, Rodrigo is an expert in political risk analysis. His main area of interest is the oil and gas sector throughout Latin America. Over the past four years, Rodrigo has helped majors and super majors design and implement government relations’ strategies throughout the region. Rodrigo is doing a Master of International Affairs with a concentration in energy management and policy at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). After graduation, he will become head of business development and research in Latin America for a political risk consulting firm operating in over 40 countries worldwide.
Amaury is a second year MIA student concentrating in energy and environment at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), Columbia University. Prior to graduate school, he worked as an investment banking analyst at Perella Weinberg Partners where he was part of the generalist M&A team. At SIPA, he has conducted research on electric vehicle adoption and is focusing his studies on the intersection between energy, finance, and sustainability. Amaury received a B.A. in Economics and History from the University of Pennsylvania. He hopes to pursue a career in investing in and financing clean and renewable energy assets and companies.

Maria is an M.S. in Sustainability Management candidate at Columbia University, focusing on energy and finance fields. Prior to graduate school, she worked in alternative asset data, specializing in real asset investment trends in Latin America. She has a B.S. in Financial Economics from Binghamton University. Upon graduation she hopes to pursue a career in renewable energy financing, energy infrastructure development, and impact finance.
Chris is a second year MBA student at Columbia Business School focusing on sustainable and impact investing. He is the VP of Energy for the Green Business Club. Prior to business school, Chris was in the fixed income investment group at PIMCO and was an analyst at Goldman Sachs. He has a B.S. in Finance from Pennsylvania State University.

Jia is currently a first year SIPA student with a concentration in Energy and Environment. Prior to SIPA, Jia was a quantitative research and trading analyst for 3 years in a hedge fund in New York, where she designed algorithmic trading models for foreign exchange and commodities. Jia received her undergraduate degree in Economics and Statistics from University of California, Berkeley. Upon graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in renewable energy financing or impact investing.
